Define the work before reading the specification sheet
Power tiller specifications are useful only when they answer a defined operating question. Engine output, chassis weight, working width and the number of gears describe parts of a system. They do not, by themselves, tell a distributor whether the complete configuration will suit a market.
Start with the work sequence. Is the machine intended mainly for rotary tillage, initial ploughing, wet-field preparation or short-distance transport? Will it work in narrow irrigated plots, more open dry land or a mixture? Which task is primary when two requirements conflict?
The FAO's sustainable mechanization guidance emphasizes access to equipment suited to users' needs within an appropriate delivery and support system. For a B2B buyer, that translates into a configuration that local operators can use, service and explain—not simply the largest number on a data sheet.
Before reviewing models, write down:
- the primary and secondary tasks;
- typical soil and water conditions;
- plot access, row spacing and turning area;
- operator experience and local service capability;
- required implements and any transport use;
- fuel, engine and starting preferences that are already fixed by the market.
This brief gives every specification a purpose.
Read engine output and chassis weight together
Horsepower indicates an engine's output range, but the working result depends on the complete machine. Chassis mass, gearing, traction setup, implement load, soil condition and operator technique all affect how that output is used.
Treat power and chassis as a paired decision:

A compact chassis may suit frequent turning and restricted access. A heavier platform may suit sustained work where chassis weight and transport capability are more important. Neither statement makes one platform universally superior. It clarifies which operating proposition should be tested.
Match working width to field geometry
Working width should connect implement coverage to the field's physical limits. Wider is not automatically more productive if the machine cannot enter a plot, follow the row pattern or turn at the headland.
Measure the narrowest access point and typical clear working corridor. Record raised beds, irrigation channels and terrace edges. Then ask whether the quoted dimension is the tiller's working width or the overall configured width. Those numbers can serve different purposes.

Use transmission data as an operating-range signal
A notation such as 6F/2R confirms six forward and two reverse selections. It is a useful configuration fact, but gear count alone does not state working speed, maneuverability or field capacity. Those outcomes depend on the transmission ratios, engine, wheel setup, implement and conditions.
Use transmission data to ask better questions:
- Which forward gears are intended for tillage versus transport?
- How is reverse used in the recommended operating procedure?
- Does the proposed wheel and implement setup match the work sequence?
- Which controls and routine checks need to be included in operator training?
- Which transmission details should be verified during a representative demonstration?
Avoid converting a gear count into an unsupported productivity claim. For quotation purposes, the goal is to understand how the proposed setup is meant to work and what still needs validation.
Confirm implements as part of the configuration
An implement is not an afterthought. Rotary tillers, ploughs, trailers and traction accessories change the task, load and operating procedure. A request that lists the machine but omits the implement package is incomplete.
For every implement, specify the intended job, field condition and expected frequency of use. Confirm the interface, compatible width, wheel or traction setup and any operating limitations. If transport is required, describe the route, distance and load requirement rather than asking for “trailer capability” in general.
This approach also improves service planning. The buyer can identify which wear parts, manuals and training topics belong to the actual package. It reduces the risk of receiving individually valid components that have not been confirmed as one working configuration.
Apply the numbers to documented SUNTEC platforms

The M80 is documented with an aluminum gearbox and the GN12 with an iron gearbox. Engine model, starting method, wheel configuration and final implement combination remain quotation-specific. GN15-specific specifications are not included here because they have not been confirmed in the current public knowledge base.
Convert the specifications into a quotation brief
Use the specification sheet to identify knowns, unknowns and validation points. A practical brief should contain:
- Task: primary operation, secondary operation and expected use pattern.
- Field: dry/wet condition, soil behavior, slope/terrace exposure and access dimensions.
- Platform preference: M80, GN12 or “supplier recommendation,” with the reason stated.
- Engine: fuel, output or starting requirement if fixed; otherwise request a recommendation.
- Working setup: target width, wheels/traction equipment and required implements.
- Transmission use: tillage and transport needs to be confirmed for the proposed configuration.
- Support: manuals, operator training needs and the parts scope to discuss.
- Open items: every specification or compatibility point requiring confirmation before quotation.
